James Shera wins councillor’s election record eighth time

London (Special report) - A candidate of Pakistani origin James Shera made a record by winning councillor’s election for the eighth time running from Benn Ward in Rubgy Council elections.
James Shera who is the leader of Labour group in the council won the election for the first time in 1981.
He has the honour to serve as Mayor in 1988. In view of his selfless services to the people nobody has been able to defeat him in the council’s elections as yet.
Pakistan government decorated him Sitara-e-Pakistan award in 1992 while the Queen honoured him with MBE. A road has also been named after him in Rubgy council.
Bedfordshire University has announced to don him with honorary doctorate degree which would be awarded to him at an impressive ceremony in July this year at Luton.
The Rubgy council in the meantime has once again elected him as Labour party’s leader.
